“Buried Treasure”

A social awareness play  by Tom Ballmer

FOR BOYS ONLY!  Ages 10 – 17  Limited Number of participants – 7.

Five young teenagers have formed an Inventors Club, complete with a clubhouse full of gear and elaborate initiation practices. But their fun and comradeship breaks down when one of them digs up a box of drugs and money, and they encounter the young dealer who buried it. They are faced with tough questions. How do you deal with the loss of trust among buddies? How much do you tell parents, especially if one of those parents is a cop?  This workshop will conclude as a workshop production performance.

A review - "Tom Ballmer's Buried Treasure is fun. It's funny. I like these kids; I want to join their club and hang out with them. They make me laugh. I like their innocence, I understand their temptations, I applaud their struggles to do the right things, and I want to go with them on their grand adventure. Ballmer writes knowingly about a difficult age group, giving his characters charm, energy and humanity." —Max Bush, Playwright.

Dates:  Mondays & Wednesdays beginning January 25     Performance Dates: 4/10 - 11

Time:  6 – 7:30   Fees:  $ 175 Member       $183 Non-Member    Each fee includes 1 adult ticket to the performance.

“Children’s Letters to God”

Main Stage Musical Production

Inspired by the international bestseller of the same name, Children's Letters To God is a musical that follows the lives of five young friends as they voice beliefs, desires, questions and doubts common to all people but most disarmingly expressed by children. Sixteen tuneful songs and assorted scenes (some based on actual letters) explore timeless issues such as sibling rivalry, divorce, holidays, loss of a beloved pet, the trials of being un-athletic and first love. This entertaining show carries a universal message which crosses the boundaries of age, geography, and religion.

As in the best-selling book, the musical is not specifically religious in nature. It's about kids and various events in their lives that lead them to ask a lot of questions -- some funny, some serious, some surprising.
