ART CLASSES
Art Thru the Ages - A history of various crafts and cultures through the larger world. We will travel back in time to learn about many art forms and why they came to exist. Students will learn Mosaics, Batique, hand building with air dry clay including sculpture, Paper Mache, and Pottery. Experience the fun of learning something new and fun as well as gain knowledge about history, legend and lore of the past. 6 week session Taught by Cathy Livingston. _______________________________________________________________________________

PHOTOGRAPHY CLASSES/Workshops
Basic Digital Photography - If you are new to digital photography or just confused by all those buttons and menus this course is for you. The course is primarily designed for people with a "Point and Shoot" camera or who are looking for information on buying one, but if you have an SLR style camera and are new to digital come on downtown. It's for those who are not yet ready for f-stops and shutter speeds (though they will occasionally be mentioned). If you already have a camera please bring it along. Bring that camera manual (you know the one you can't figure out); it actually can help. We'll explore the most important part of taking a photo: which way to point the camera and when to press the shutter button. We'll look at the latest features you'll find on digital cameras and how they help you take better photos. You will find out how many megapixels you need and what the heck a pixel is to begin with. Your camera has scene modes. perhaps many of them, so let's find out how to use them to improve your pictures. 6 Week Session Taught by Jim King.

Belly Dance – with Neferiti. Discover the rare art of belly dance. The class serves as an introduction to belly dance with nationally acclaimed belly dancer Nefertiti. She’s just getting back from studying in Egypt. This 8 week class will get you in shape. A discount is offered for those taking both classes. ACTING CLASSES Individual classes focusing on projection, diction, character development, and monologues. All class sessions (10 weeks) will conclude with a performance night. Students will study Acting by developing, communicating, and sustaining characters in improvisations and informal or formal productions Specifically: · Students analyze the physical, emotional, and social dimensions of characters found in dramatic texts from various genres and media
This class meets parts 1 & 2 of the National Standards for Arts Education – Theatre Content Standard 2 Fee: $25 per 45 minute session Non-Members (Total $250, payable $25 per week)$23.50 Members .As we hold this time for your student there will be a $5 fee for re-scheduled classes and the $25 fee will be charged in the case of missed classes. Maximum of 2 students per session. (Having two students in a session allows the option of working on some scene work, while still maintaining individual attention.)

Little Players Silly Songs - this workshop will bring together some of our favorite silly songs that we will create a mini play around. Learn to develop a story line and characters. Get those creative juices flowing! We’ll close the workshop with a mini performance of our silly masterpiece on the final meeting day. Reader’s Theatre – Learn the art of reader’s theatre, no memorization needed. Work on developing a character that is differentiated by voice only. Play multiple roles in this reader’s theatre mystery. The workshop will conclude with a performance. Ages: 11 and up _______________________________________________________________________________
Radio Theatre – Learn the basic elements of radio theatre. Develop characters, create sound effects from household objects and record a radio show. Study and create an original commercial. The workshop will conclude with a performance. Ages: 11 and up
Improv Tuesdays – sharpen your acting skills through improvisation. Open your art to the genre of improvisation. The format will be similar to “Who’s Line is It Anyway”. This class will allow your imagination to grow and expand. Great for all ages, heightening the awareness of self and others. Ages: 11 and up
MUSIC
Guitar Lessons These one on one lessons will cater largely to what the student wants to achieve. If you simply want to learn to accompany yourself as a singer, we will start by learning about the guitar, then move to chords, and how to read charts. Eventually we will move to reading Roman numerals and playing by ear. In the end, we will work on playing and singing at the same time--maybe even writing some music! With all classes, theory will play a strong role. Depending on the student, the theory could be more or less involved. If the student wishes to learn guitar and music on a deeper level, they will learn how to read music, apply that to guitar and explore more of the theory behind it through books and hands-on instruction. Song Writing Class Learn how to write songs. This will be a group class to allow the collaborative juices flow. Learn the art of putting songs together. Each student will create a song and will perform it at an end of the session showcase night. Taught by Alex Wersen.

YOGA Children’s Yoga
Journey’s - A yoga journey that will explore the basics of yoga along the themes of Egypt, Africa, Zoo, Beach/Ocean, Transportation and Into the jungle. Each practice will include a game, partner poses and guided relaxation. 6 weeks: Taught by Jennifer Krenitsky Ages: 7 – 9 Session 1 Session 2
