Art Lessons

AP1 - Portfolio PREP Class - Ages High School—24 Need a Portfolio but don’t know where to start.  This is the class for even  the  seasoned artist.  Whether you are giving your portfolio a boost or not quite sure where to begin, let artist Tracey Kelly point you in the right direction.  Learn how to best represent yourself and your work.  Bring examples of your work and supplies to develop new pieces.  You will walk out with a checklist of things to add and improve your first impression for those colleges and scholarships.

Portfolio Prep Class

 

AS2 - STUDIO ART CLASS—  Ages 10 and up—A studio format drawing and art class for  students to develop and work on long term project ideas.  Students will take a creative ideas from conception through its formative stages (including critiques and feedback from peers), to its final visual resolution.  Students will need a sketchbook and their own drawing materials.

AC3 - Arts & Crafts  -  Ages 10 and up— a class to work on various craft projects, including mosaic frames and other theme related projects.

ACTING CLASSES

Ages 6 and up

Individual classes focusing on projection, diction, character development, and monologues. All class sessions (10 weeks) will conclude with a performance night. Students will study Acting by developing, communicating, and sustaining characters in improvisations and informal or formal productions. Specifically:  Students analyze the physical, emotional, and social dimensions of characters found in dramatic texts from various genres and media Students compare and demonstrate various classical and contemporary acting techniques and methods. This class meets parts 1 & 2 of the National Standards for Arts Education – Theatre Content Standard 2                                                 

Time: Scheduled on a per student basis. Call to schedule.

Fee: $25 per 30 minute session.

Reader’s Theatre

This workshop is great for beginning readers and acting students.  Come explore the world of theatre in a low stress, fun and creative way.  We will read a variety of scripts looking at fairy tales through funny life situations .  Learn to develop characters without the pressure of memorization.  Great for reading development and new readers. Guaranteed to be loads of fun!

 Alexander is having a bad day. A terrible day. A horrible day. To be quite honest, it's a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. But then, everybody has bad days, sometimes. In this delightful adaptation of her popular book, Judith Viorst sets Alexander's rather trying life to music and brings to the stage one of America's feistiest characters.

Become a part of American history with this fact-filled and entertaining tribute that chronicles the early years of the United States.  From the earliest explorers through the post-Civil War reconstruction, The American Dream combines music, history and drama to teach important  events that have helped shape our country.

Mystery Writer’s Workshop

Ages 10—15

Mystery theatre KCYP style encourages creativity as it has students write a script. And gets the audience involved. The students learn not only traditional acting skills, but skills in improvisation.The workshop students will create their own script and bring their characters to life with an interactive aspect.

        Vocal Coaching - learn how to perform songs for auditions and other

Kaleidoscope  is now opening auditions for our new traveling theatre troop.  This group will perform cabaret shows and various children theater pieces at daycares, senior centers, schools, festivals and other locations upon request..   Call to arrange an audition. Yearly membership fee of $75,  $30 per month and actors will be responsible for some costume costs.
